The limited color palette and minimal designs make this brand look fresh, clean and delicious. The name itself makes me laugh a little, but I think it works remembering this is a Japanese location. I like the bright, citrus green used overtop natural textures throughout as it brings a certain flavor to the image. Designed by Commune, Inc.

Simple typography and illustrations build the foundations of this brand. Leveraging the little used yellow color, Capital Kitchen is clean without being sterile and reserved without losing it’s “homey” feel. Designed by Cornwell.

This is an awesome delivery of modern simplistic design. It hints at constructivism without the negative communist connotations. It stands out. It pops. The branding for Reed Espresso Bar is just well executed from start to finish. Designed by Anna Geslev

Hand rendered typography and hand painted illustrations mark this restaurant’s brand by Ben Dalrymple. Vamonos, a seafood and tapas bar, harkens back to that small shack on the beach serving today’s freshest catch. It has a “homemade” and Do-It-Yourself style which, for seafood, seems dead on. Fresh, clean, quick and delicious.

The brand identity for Akasha is an exercise in simplicity. The defining “A” mark speaks so loudly on it’s own and is so recognizable, there isn’t much need for more “design” around it. The menu covers are excellently hand made and interesting. I do think the brand could grow a little more instead of relying so heavily on just the “A” form, but it works well so why change it? This new series of ads for a restaurant in Dubai pushes the envelope maybe a little too far. Although brilliant, I think when you start to pull race into an advertising angle, you may be walking on thin ice and asking for controversy. However, controversy does spawn press and no press is bad press. Anyway, the artwork and photo retouching are quite brilliant. Designed by DDB.

Giant Coffee is rustic and approachable with a do-it-yourself, homemade vibe to it. Great color palette here with rough and distressed treatments, raw materials and an awesome menu that pops off the woodgrain wall. I especially love the gift certificate designs that are much different than anything else I’ve seen. Big ups to Kitchen Sink on this one.

Village Burger Bar is defined by large, bold typography and a warm color palette. Immediately jumping into abbreviation in the name, the core brand is displayed at VBBAR across the touch points. Not sure if this is the best idea. I’m a big proponent of calling a brand exactly what you want it to be. If you want it to be called “VB Bar” then why bother naming it “Village Burger Bar?” Oh well, the brand identity as shown here stands on its own and is solid. Designed by One Fast Buffalo

Chef Bobby Flay’s latest venture is a burger joint influenced by the chef’s travels and culinary expertise. Designed by Pentagram, the identity is notoriously “pentagram” in design: Big typography with semi-obtuse design cues. I think it comes together decently but think this could’ve been done much better. I think the name is pretty lame in general. It’s like they/he attempted to nod to old school naming conventions, but it just fails. The architecture and interior design elements are where the brand shines though.

Found this lovely little brand identity for Swoon Cookie Crafters on Design Work Life. The typography is absolutely excellent as well as the use of different finishing techniques with the printing. Designed by Meers Advertising, this identity just looks yummy from the logo throughout the packaging.
