UPDATE // This work has just been featured on renowned packaging design website, The Die Line
When we were approached by the mom’s at 5th Avenue Salon in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, we were ready for a challenge. Like many salons, 5th Avenue wanted to put out a hair care line, but didn’t know where to start. Vigor’s unique approach to branding, strategy and positioning garnered the intelligence needed to develop a position, naming and design.

Packaging design for hair care line focused on mothers.
The hair care industry is over saturated with products. There are products for newly colored, vibrancy, fragile hair and thick. All angles seemed to be covered. However, there was an emerging market that had yet to be tapped: the new mother.
Think about it. New mothers are a market that is changing their buying habits. Despite the new responsibilities in their life, they still want to look hot and they still feel young. New moms posed the best market to target and from this basis Danu was born.

The Bundle of Joy, named and designed by Vigor for the Danu sample kit.
With Danu, and irish goddess portrayed as a mother, Mom’s can still afford a top shelf, salon quality product, but fit it in their budget. Now they have a product just for them.
Vigor worked endlessly to name and brand the product. The names were tongue-in-cheek from the start and a little racy to give it that rockstar edge we wanted. Names like MotherFluffer, for the volumizing products and MoistureMama for the hydrating products were developed in a collaborative approach with the client.
The logo for Danu has already been recognized in publications and we think the packaging will too.
So, what do you think?

Hair care packaging design and branding with a splash of fun!

Very niice..
My only comment would be that instead of white i’m wondering if transparent on the sticker might have looked awesome as well, but other than that i think it looks awesome..

@John – Thanks a bunch. Glad you like it!
@ Eric – Thanks for the feedback. I originally pushed for the transparent background. It was more money and the color of the actual product became an issue. For instance, when there was no product left, the impact was lost. Good thinking though.
